Info for Parents New to Public Schools
Why do schools operate the way they do? How are schools funded? Which school will my children attend? How do we enroll?
A new web resource has been created specifically to help parents who are new to Texas public schools — maybe their children are just reaching school age, or they are transferring from another state or country, or perhaps transitioning from private school or home school. The site, www.mytexaspublicschool.org, is designed to be a starting point, providing answers to basic, general questions.
Visitors to the site can find information on enrollment requirements, curriculum, testing instruments, how to get involved as parents, how policies are created, and more.
The site, created by the Texas Association of School Boards, will continue to grow as more information becomes available or is suggested by users.
